About Wolfgang
Born in Berlin, Germany, Wolfgang lived a modest childhood and worked in the family business
as a butcher. Enduring the hardships of growing up in post World War II Germany and with his
father a Russian POW during most of his childhood, Wolfgang learned firsthand the values of
hard work and the importance of family.
After moving to the United States in 1972, he began his career in air conditioning and heating in Great Neck, New York. He learned the business from Walter Blasberg, owner of Gregory Commercial Refrigeration. Walter was a friend, mentor, a gifted teacher, and the best HVAC contractor of his time.
Wolfgang and his family moved to Phoenix in 1976 where he worked for a local air conditioning company for the next six years. In 1982, he started Wolfgang's Cooling and Heating Corporation. He focused on quality workmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence and built a loyal and growing client base.
In 2000, keeping with German tradition, Wolfgang passed the reigns to his son-in-law, David Hinze and long time employee Tim Graves. Together they proudly continue to build on the solid foundation and traditions established early on by Wolfgang. Although, no longer managing daily operations, Wolfgang remains a strong influence within the company and continues his involvement in training and quality control.
Today, he enjoys his retirement by traveling, volunteering for community service projects and teaching. But most importantly he enjoys spending time with his two grandsons, Jakob and Lukas.
